On October 3, the World Apostolate of Fatima celebrated a worldwide international moment of prayer and Eucharistic adoration with children and youngsters. This was the 12th edition of this event which is carried out every year on the first Friday of October. The purpose is to offer children and youngsters an opportunity for an intimate meeting with Jesus in the Eucharist and to pray for the Holy Father, the families and peace in the world.
The Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, in Portugal joined this initiative and held in the afternoon of that day, in the Chapel of the Apparitions, a solemn Holy Hour of Eucharistic adoration and the recitation of the Rosary. The celebration was presided over by the Rector of the Fatima Shrine. The International President of the WAF was also in Fatima for the occasion. Several schools from Fatima participated with their children in the moment of prayer, following the example of the three little shepherds.
Almost at the same time, a large group of children was also assembled in the Basilica of the National Sanctuary of the Immaculate Conception, in Washington, USA, for their own celebration. In many other places around the world, such as the Philippines, India, Cameroon, Australia, Botswana, Czech Republic, Puerto Rico, among others, organized a similar celebration making a wonderful and worldwide prayer chain.
The celebrations in Washington and Fatima were broadcasted by the North American catholic television channel EWTN into 140 countries.
