From the 10th to 14th of October, the World Apostolate of Fatima held its 3rd Regional African congress, in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, under the main theme: “World Apostolate of Fatima: Its mission of evangelization in the light of "Africae Munus" and of the Synod on the new evangelization.”
More than sixty participants, coming from Tanzania, Nigeria and various regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo, assembled at the Theresianum Centre in Kinshasa for the African Regional Congress. Arriving on October 10th, the meeting begun officially on the 11th with Holy Mass in honour of Our Lady of the Rosary and the opening of the congress, presided by H. E. Mgr. Timothée Bodika, auxiliary Bishop and personal representative of H. E. Cardinal Laurent Monsengwo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Kinshasa, who was not able to attend, due to his participation in the Synod of Bishops in Rome.
The Spiritual Director of the WAF in the country, H. E. Mgr. Nestor Ngoy Katahwa, bishop of Kolwezi, welcomed the delegates and imparted the message that the WAF International Secretariat had sent for the occasion. Various conferences have been presented in connection with the theme of the New Evangelization and the Message of Fatima. The WAF African nations that were present also reported on their national activities and their Apostolate successes and failures. The prayer of the Rosary and moments of Adoration completed the congress program. The next regional congress for Africa was fixed for 2017 in Tanzania.
