Inspired by the request made by the president of South Korea during a visit to Austria, for prayers for a peaceful reunification of Korea, the World Apostolate of Fatima of the diocese of Würzburg, in Germany is promoting a Fatima prayer event for May 13th, 2022 both in South Korea as well as in Germany, with the intention to pray for peace in Korea, in Ukraine and in the whole world.
During his visit of state to Austria, in 2021, former President of South Korea, Moon Jae-in, also visited the Abbey of Heiligenkreuz, where he stated that faith is the basis of his political action. He asked, above all, for prayers for the reconciliation and peaceful reunification of the peninsula of Korea. Responding to this appeal and as a thanksgiving gesture for the peaceful reunification of Germany in 1989/90 and the end of the cold war, the diocesan division of the World Apostolate of Fatima in Würzburg, Germany, decided to organize a major prayer event on the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima.
In collaboration with the World Apostolate of Fatima in South Korea and the International Secretariat, such event is scheduled to happen in South Korea and in Germany, on May 13th, 2022. On this day, members of the Fatima Apostolate and other devotees will gather at the Shrine of Peace, at the border between North and South Korea, as well as in Würzburg, Germany, to pray to God and to Our Lady for the reunification of Korea, as well as for peace in Ukraine and in the whole world. May the example of Germany’s peaceful reunification inspire and give new hope to the Korean faithful to continue their fight for peace.
