Domus Pacis - site

DOMUS PACIS («House of Peace») is the international headquarters of the World Apostolate of Fátima and a Guest House for pilgrim groups and visitors to Fatima.

It is adjacent to the Sanctuary of Fatima, located right behind the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary. At the same time, it is isolated from the noise and the bustle of the crowds, having a private parking and thus offering the best conditions for tranquillity and peace of mind.

This traditional Guest House, with its renovated works finished, has the capacity for 200 pilgrims, rooms with private bath, air conditioning, telephones, central heating, a large coffee shop and a restaurant of 250 seats that serves Portuguese and international menus. It also has an equipped auditorium for 250 persons with facilities for simultaneous translation in five languages and video projector.

For their spiritual needs, the pilgrims have two chapels at their disposal: the Latin Chapel (Western rite) and the Byzantine Chapel (Eastern rite). The Byzantine Chapel has an onion shaped blue dome, which is an unmistakable way of identifying Domus Pacis. Inside you can find a replica of the Icon of Kazan, a priceless treasure highly venerated by the Russian people.

The prominent features of the house are the statues of Our Lady «Regina Pacis» and of Saint Joseph, both located at the front of the house. The statue of Our Lady «Regina Pacis» represents the coronation of Our Lady by Pope Pius XII as «Queen of the World». The image of Saint Joseph, on the top of the building, is a reference to the Apparition of October 13, 1917, when the little shepherds had a vision of Saint Joseph with the child Jesus blessing the world. At the entrance of the house, people are welcomed by the beautiful statue of Mary, Mother of Life.

The International Secretariat of the World Apostolate of Fatima, with its facilities in the dependence of Domus Pacis, will be mostly happy to welcome you here.
